NOTICE TO LANDOWNERS AND FARMERS
In the past the County had mowed along roads but the COUNTY WILL NOT BE MOWING in 2024. It is the duty of the landowner or farmer to mow all roadway ditches running along their land twice a year, before July 15th and again by September 15th. If the County has to mow the roadway, then the Board will bill the landowner upon the abutting land to pay for the mowing expense at $300.00 per mile (SS 39-1811).
It is also the responsibility of the landowner or farmer to see that no irrigation water infringes on county right-of-way, there is NO planting within the county right-of-way (33’ from center of road) as it will be mowed (SS 39-1702 and 39-1812), hedges or trees that become a public nuisance to travel on roads or obstruct the view of railroad crossings or crossroads need to be trimmed and if a landowner fails to trim these trees, the County will hire the work done and the cost will be assessed to the property (SS-39-1702-1812) and the Noxious Weed Act requires landowners to control all noxious weeds on their property, which includes road ditches (SS 2-945).
Violators will be prosecuted.

Drivers Exam News
Drivers Exams are given on TUESDAYS from 9:15 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. CDL DRIVING tests are NOT given in Pierce County, but written tests are. CDL DRIVING tests are given in Madison and Holt Counties.

Property Tax Notices
Individuals should receive property tax notices in mid-December. The notices will be received from the County Treasurers office, 329-6335. If you have questions regarding these notices more information should be available from the Treasurer's office.
Property Tax List
The Assessor's office is in the process of finalizing the Real and Personal Property Tax List. Information on the tax list and the levy list which was finalized in mid-November is available from the Assessor's office, 329-4215.
